TAXI DRIVER PROFILE

TAXIS need a full profile of you, the taxi driver. Each time you log-in you will be prompted to confirm the default details of the taxi you are or will be driving so that we can best offer you the jobs you want. The system also enables you to accept an advance job when you are not in the taxi - but you can't get payment for a job which has not been picked-up. We want to know your base location so that at the end of the shift you can select work which takes you home. We need the current mobile number.

And we need a BSB so that the fare money goes into your account.

Unlike the other payment systems, there are no "emergency" dockets, and no facility to swap dockets for cash or fuel. Why not ?

Because, as taxi drivers ourselves, we know where things start going wrong.

We also appreciate the need for cash. So, you keep the cash component of the shift, and use TAXIS to pay the Operator his pay-in from the, as yet, uncleared, credit card payments of that shift. That way you go home with cash for the family and have a record of payments made. Yes, it is very intrusive that we require copies of Drivers License and Taxi Authority, and Bank BSB info ; but if we are to provide a better service we have to be able to prove ourselves at every turn. And other people will be watching.

To operate on TAXIS you will need a internet enabled mobile, and a voice/data plan with your phone service providor. We have a set of pre-paid plans with Virgin, plus their $99 "topless" plan and all the account plans. Using Virgin will give you 2500 minutes of free V-to-V calls a month plus SMS's so that you can maintain contact with cabbies and family on Virgin. No other mobile network has a pre-paid data plan available - and sometimes credit is a bit hard to get.

One very important item ...

Do not try to cheat the system. Do not log-in as a "premium" if you are driving a "standard" taxi. Do not accept a job and try to pass it on to another driver.

Be in the nominated taxi, not a hire car, when you pick-up the job. If you try to outsmart the system, it will be a very short lived victory, and goodbye to a lot of future work.

When you have accepted and contracted with a passenger for the offer -- DO IT.
